Dining table is finally done!

Last night after spending about 12 hours on the table - I thought it would never be done. Finally this morning - hit it with the finishing oil and viola. Stood back and looked. It was worth it. Total project time was about 20 hours... looks great now. We are still going to look for some copper stars for the legs. Check out the table post to see how it went from a pile of boards to this!

Texas Star and State Flag Wall Decoration today!

Merry Christmas Everyone!  -- -- -- It's still a little on the cold and wet outside today to begin the dining table project. We are both home and don't want to waste the day so we're going to try to make a large TX Lone Star wall decoration and a Medium sized State shape. We're shooting for 2 of each. 1 will be painted Red, White and Blue like the State Flag, the other will be no paint (just stain) but instead of Red, White and Blue it will be 3 colors of stain... Dark, Medium and Light in the same pattern. Should look cool when it's done. We're excited. I'll put some pics up of the project later. A little late for Christmas but could be great Father's or Mother's day gifts!

Evening Update - Got 1 TX State almost done and 1 start almost done. When they are dry later today we will finish them up. I'll add more pictures after they are on the wall.

Done with the TX State!
Still working on the star...

Crosses and other gifts

My Wife started making these beautiful crosses a while back. Country soap pumps also. Love it!

New Project - Starting a Rustic Country Dining Table

Will start this project tomorrow (weather permitting). I would love to get it done and in place before next Friday. Here is the official before photo. BTW - we sold out existing dining set so we are 100% committed now! Since the blog site just started I will try this out. I'll try to post updates and pictures along the way. This is actually our "dining set to be". Just for good measure I put it in the dining room. Actually it was raining and my wife is starting to think I'm turning our house into an indoor lumber yard.

Here's the photo of what it "should" look like when it's done. I'll most likely make the bench later to go along with it but the chairs will definitely be different.

Update - Dec 27th...

Yesterday it warmed up so I got to work on the table. Cut the pieces and had to break in the chisels. Once everything was cut I moved it all inside to put it together. Today I cut the top boards and finished up the construction. I spent about 3 hours sanding it since I am not set up with a jointer or planer. Then it was time for a thorough cleaning and the stain. Should be able to finish it all tomorrow.

Rustic Coffee Table is DONE!

This turned out very well, we are happy with it. Very solid and heavy. Reminds me of the one my Dad had when I was growing up. Weighs a ton should last for ever. Still looking for some Copper stars to add to the leg corners though.

Busy Holiday "break"!

2 Benches Done! 2 Patio Chair sets and one matching Patio Table! Looked Great! Things are beginning to take off and it;s very exciting. Thank you Cynthia and Kaycee and Johnny!
